Week 12

Latest news on baby Dorwart...
Today I am 12 weeks 4 days pregnant. Sorry I didn't give a week 11 update :( I started camp last week. Chasing 3 year olds all day is very tiring. I've learned to appreciate my kindergarteners and their listening capabilities!
I feel accomplished making it to the "safe point". This past Thursday I had 2 doctors appointments. One in the morning with prenatal testing. There, we had our nuchal translucency scan (NT scan) to screen for Down Syndrome, Trisomy 18 and Neural Tube Defects. The test is performed by having an ultrasound and getting the baby in a nice profile position. They then measure the fluid thickness at the back of the neck. It was tough at first to get the baby in a good position to measure the neck.  After some time, the ultrasound tech was able to take a measurement. She didn't say the actual measurement however, we are in the low risk range.
Then in the evening a regular checkup with my physician. So far everything looks great. Im allowed to stop taking progesterone on Tuesday. Yah! I'm hoping that's what is causing my constant nausea and lack of appetite.  Our baby is approximately 2 1/2 inches long. Heart rate measured 162 BPM. Now that I am near the end of the first trimester, my doctor doesn't see the need to see me more often than normal. My next appointment is at week 16 for a checkup then week 20 for the anatomy scan. For the record...we are not finding out the gender until the baby arrives in January.

Week 10

Newest photo of baby Dorwart...
It's pretty awesome how it is starting to actually look like a baby and less like a tadpole hahaha. Well I went for my 10 week checkup a little earlier than expected. At school yesterday, all of a sudden I felt very dizzy and nauseous. I was also having abdominal and lower back craps...scary stuff. I shoved my students onto one of our wonderful second grade teachers and immediately called my mama to pick me up from school then my doctor. They advised me to come in ASAP. Well...news spreads fast at Willow Hill. Within minutes there were several teachers as well as the school nurse in my room to check on me. They brought me soda, peanut butter crackers and a fig bar. After a few bites I immediately felt relief. Turns out everything is fine with our baby, my blood sugar was low. I learned the hard way that I need to snack more often and not go more than 2-3 hours without eating. The ultrasound went great. Heart rate  was measured at 157 BPM. The baby actually measured 10 weeks 3 days. The little bugger is growing fast. A little over 1 inch long.

Week 9

Week 9 update...
So far I can't complain. I feel pretty good compared to some of the horror morning sickness stories I've heard. I do however have a decreased appetite (very unlike me) and am consistently nauseous. My pants are starting to feel too uncomfortable to wear. Good thing it is almost summer and I love wearing dresses! Week 9 is almost over. I go back to the doctor on Thursday for my 10 week visit. Wish me luck!

Week 8

On April 12, 2013 Chris graduated from Basic Training in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Long sort short...I am pregnant again!! Due January 8, 2014

Here are photos from my first three ultrasounds of our little one.

6 weeks: mom and I saw a little flicker on the screen=heartbeat!!

7 weeks: this time the heartbeat could be heard and measured, 141 BPM.

8 weeks: Our baby is approximately the size of a raspberry.  Mom and I went to the doctor on May 31 the heartbeat increased, up to 162 BPM. How exciting! (sorry this photo isn't as clear as the others)
